yes i said missions. i just wrote a pretty long post about factions and came up with the idea of PvP missions. Basically put when you do missions you are doing it for one "faction" like the shinning blade or the white mantel.

You can do this one of two ways as i see it.

1) What if when you accepted your missions you had a choice of which side you go on. kind of like the pre-searing to post-searing quest/mission thing.

-or-

2) Your faction predetermines what side of the mission you end up on?

Now you can gain that faction in a couple of ways.

1) kill opposing faction to gain favor of the faction you want
2) do quests and missions for that faction

It is true that your guild is your faction and you could say you are representing your guild when you do a mission, however what if the "factions" like the shinning blade hired your guild to do a mission.

It could be one easy way as well to solve the Celestial sigil problem. What if you could eventually earn a celestial sigil from the a faction like the shinning blade after you gained enough points/favor into that faction for them to just give you one. You could even make it a mission you do so you can only get the sigil once.

Now implementation wise it would be hard to add it to the pre-existing "world"
but you could implement it after ascension. In a "sense" because you have ascended you are now ready to finally make a stand and choose good vs evil.
Now that the gods are watching you so to speak you deeds can gave their favor in a different way than just PvP arena. Why not test your skills in different scenarios than just 2 guilds duke it out.

It also doesn't have to be PvP missions the only way to add factions to guild wars but it would be really awesome to see factions in this game.

Thats just my opinion anyways, i could be wrong/insane/stupid and or delusional.
